The plug-in copies files on your computer. It does not connect to Getty Images or Dropbox, asks for no credentials, and makes no network requests. Dropbox syncs the folder; you submit in ESP.
Before you start
Getty Images offers contributors no public upload API, and its ESP Contributor Portal can upload files from Dropbox. This plug-in fills the gap between Lightroom and that upload.
- Lightroom Classic (not cloud Lightroom).
- A Getty Images / iStock contributor account with access to ESP.
- The Dropbox desktop app, signed in to the Dropbox account you use in ESP, with a folder synced to this computer.
Availability on Adobe Exchange is coming soon; the plug-in is distributed there and installed with the Creative Cloud desktop app. Try it with a test folder and a few photos first.
Install
- In the Creative Cloud desktop app, signed in with your Adobe ID, open Stock & Marketplace > Plugins, search for Expolumi, and choose Get for Expolumi Getty Publisher.
- Restart Lightroom Classic and confirm the plug-in is enabled in File > Plug-in Manager. Install only one copy.
Set up
- Choose Library > Publish Services > Getty Publisher > Set Up.
- Under Delivery folder, click Choose... and pick a folder inside your Dropbox folder, for example
Dropbox/Getty uploads. - Save. The service gets a Getty uploads collection.
In File > Plug-in Manager, the Automatically tag photos with "Uploaded" setting works as in the other Expolumi publishers and is on by default. Here, uploaded means copied to Dropbox.
Publish
- Finish the photo, including its title, caption, and keywords. They are embedded when Lightroom renders the JPEG, so there is no need to use Metadata > Save Metadata to File first. ESP reads the embedded title, caption, and keywords.
- Drag photos into Getty uploads, or let Publishing Workflow queue them. They wait under New Photos to Publish.
- Click Publish. Lightroom renders a full-size JPEG of each photo (quality 100, sRGB, with your edits), named after the original with a
.jpgextension. It is copied into a new folder named by date and time, such as20260928-101500, checked by size, and listed under Published Photos. Your original file is never changed. - The summary offers Open Getty ESP and Show folder. When Dropbox has finished syncing, upload that batch folder in ESP from Dropbox, then complete releases and submit there.
Published means copied to Dropbox. It is not a Getty submission or acceptance.
Duplicate protection
- The plug-in remembers every JPEG file name it delivered, ignoring case.
DSC_1.NEFandDSC_1.jpgboth becomeDSC_1.jpg. - A photo that was published before, or whose name was delivered before, needs confirmation: one Deliver again dialog covers the whole batch and names the earlier batch. Skip them reports those photos as not delivered.
- To deliver a published photo again, choose Mark to Republish in the publish service and click Publish. Deliver again only photos you have not submitted in ESP yet: ESP imports by file name, so a submitted photo delivered again becomes a duplicate submission.
- Two photos with the same name in one run: the second is refused.
- A copy that does not complete is deleted and not recorded, so you can retry.
Removing a photo from the collection only removes Lightroom's tracking. The copy stays in Dropbox, and anything submitted in ESP is not affected.
With Expolumi Publishing Workflow
Set Getty to Candidate in the Workflow palette and run Sync Publisher Status: Candidate photos are added to Getty uploads, ready to publish. After publishing, Sync sets Getty to Submitted with the date. Record Accepted or Rejected yourself after ESP's review.
Limitations
- Raw, DNG, TIFF, PSD (saved with Maximize Compatibility), PNG, and JPEG originals can be published. Videos, virtual copies, and missing or offline originals are refused without copying anything.
- Catalog metadata is embedded in the JPEG, including GPS if present. Expolumi Publishing Workflow fields stay in the catalog.
- The plug-in cannot check Getty's technical requirements or ESP ingestion.
- Old batch folders are not deleted; clean them up in Dropbox once ESP has them.
Troubleshooting
- The delivery folder is missing or offline: start Dropbox, check the folder still exists, or choose it again in the service settings.
- Not delivered again: the photo was delivered before and you chose Skip them. Publish again and choose Deliver again if ESP has not submitted it.
- Nothing to publish: check New Photos to Publish and the selected collection.
The diagnostic log GettyPublish.log contains stage names and counts only, no paths or file names.
